The Columbus Board of Education voted unanimously December 15, 2009, to approve a comprehensive plan that aligns district school feeder patterns and consolidates schools. The plan closes nine under-enrolled schools and realigns student attendance zones geographically to strengthen elementary, middle and high schools city wide. This is the district's first comprehensive review of the student assignment plan since 1996.
