Primary Programs
Reading Recovery
Reading recovery is an early
intervention program for first grade students. It is an individualized
program which
capitalizes on the strengths of each student, and it helps prevent
social and psychological problems associated with long-term failure
and remediation in reading. The program is funded and sponsored
by State and Federal Programs. Currently, 25 Columbus Public Schools
have Reading Recovery: Avalon, Avondale, Beck, Berwick Alternative,
Clinton, Dana, Douglas Alternative, Duxberry Park Alternative, Eakin,
Fairmoor, Fairwood, Fifth Avenue, Franklinton Alternative, Heyl,
Huy, Indianola Alternaltive, Main, Mcguffey, Northtowne, Ohio, Olde
Orchard, Parkmoor Urban Academy, Salem, Trevitt, Valley and Valley
Forge. It is also in 4 Columbus Non-Public Schools: Christ the King,
Our Lady of Peace, St. James the Less, and St. Timothy.
